Compared to the past, technology has advanced tremendously. Tech gadgets and accessories come in all shapes, sizes, types, and categories. It's easy to get dwelled into its world. For instance, smartwatches, smart bands, smart clothing, smart glasses, rings, and even shoes are among the wearables. In general, smartwatches and smart bands are the most widely used wearables.
The wrist-worn nature of both devices makes them prone to being confused. Since smartwatches and smart bands look nearly identical and sometimes serve the same purpose, I have often been asked by friends and strangers what makes one better than the other. And we will also list some good smartwatches & smart bands with features like SpO2 (Blood Oxygen monitoring), Heart rate monitoring, Water resistance, etc.
SmartWatch VS SmartBand
There are some features that both devices share if you've looked at or used them. Generally, smart-watches and smart bands both tell the time, have health and fitness features (pedometer, tachymeter, sleep monitor, heart rate monitor, etc. ), can be synced to smartphones, and most commonly worn around the wrist.
It is usually the screen size, dimensions, and other complex features that distinguish both wearables. Here's how it works.
How are they referred to?
A smartwatch is just that: a watch. Smart-watches are thus named. Despite all the variations of the term, smart bands cannot be compared with smartwatches. Smart Bracelets or Smart Fitness Trackers, as some call them, are both available these days.
In addition to fitness tracking, smart-watches can also function as a phone on your wrist and can be used as a communication device.
Dimension & Screen Size
Smart bands tend to be smaller than smartwatches. The same is true for their displays. As a rule of thumb, smart-watch displays typically range from 1 - 3 inches, while smart bands typically measure 0 - 1 inches.
The screen of a smart band is bland and monochrome, while the screen of a smartwatch is colored and bright.
Features:
Smart bands, as mentioned previously, are fitness-focused and as such offer a lot of health-related features. Additionally to the ability to tell time, smart bands often include pedometers, heart rate monitors, and sleep monitors.
In general, smartwatches usually offer more features than smart bands. You can find smart-watches with SIM card slots, WiFi connectivity, cameras, 4G LTE, standalone apps, an app store, even complex health features that you wouldn't find on a smart band.
Usage:
A smartwatch or a smart band should also be purchased depending on when, where, and how (often) you plan to use it.
Smartwatches are very similar to traditional watches. To sum it up, smartwatches can be used every day. The best ones have detachable straps (stainless steel, leather, buckle-like, rubber, etc.) so that you can change them on different occasions.
As the name suggests, smart fitness trackers are best worn during sport or recreational activities and generally have only rubber straps. Smart bands are not designed for all occasions, even though some people wear them all day long. A smartwatch would be appropriate for a corporate meeting or setting rather than a smart band.
